ABOUT JON
I have more than 10 years' professional experience copy editing, designing pages and managing content for the Lawrence Journal-World newspaper and its websites. I spent four years as the paper's features editor, where I oversaw and produced several arts and lifestyle print sections in addition to the arts and entertainment blog, Lawrence.com.
I was born and raised in the Kansas City area before moving to Lawrence in 2001 to attend Kansas University. After bouncing around among New York, Indianapolis and Phoenix for pre- and post-graduation internships, I moved back to Lawrence in 2006 for my first "real world" job to be a copy editor at the Journal-World, where I worked until mid-2016. I currently live in Westwood Hills, Kan.
When I'm not working you can probably find me plugged in to the internet reading analyses of the day's sports/politics/entertainment news, powering up with a latte from The Roasterie or Hi Hat cafe, playing the latest narrative-driven action game on PlayStation 4, watching the stats update on my fantasy baseball teams or binging an anime while pooh-poohing the poor grammar in the subtitles. My favorite words include boondoggle and copacetic.
